David’s parents live in the historic town of Cowra so this
was by no means our first nor will it be our last visit here. Cowra has some lovely attractions but our main reason for being here was
family. I won’t bore you with all the
family catch up stuff, there was the usual greeting, eating, chatting and maybe
a glass or two was imbibed. We were
there for Easter Sunday so our boys had a really nice egg hunt in their
grandparents’ garden. Needless to say
Easter Bunny’s tracking system was well up to date so eggs were delivered even
on our travels. This actually matches
with the tooth fairy who has also managed to find us twice already (she had
hardly got home from the first visit). This was no mean feat as we have a special
tooth fairy who knows how much our boys love reading so always brings books for
them not money.
We were in Cowra for a week as other members of the family
joined us – but we treated this as part of our adventure and embarked on three
day trips to surrounding towns that we had never been to before. We also went back to some of Cowra’s main
attractions; the Prisoner of War Camp and Japanese Gardens.
These are both very special places and we recommend them to anyone
travelling through Cowra. We also stayed
for three nights at the Cowra Van Park and found the managers very
friendly and helpful. The park is lovely
and shady, but it is next to the highway so there is some traffic noise.
Our photos of the POW Camp can only be described as grey as
it was a rather wet day. Fortunately we
had lovely weather for our trip to the Japanese Gardens and I hope these photos
give you some idea of just how beautiful they are.
