28 - 30 May SSSSSHHHHHHH don’t tell ANYONE about this place (1770)

I am very tempted to write just one word for this blog entry – AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :)!
I was also thinking about keeping this place a secret as well, but as our caravan park is full it might be too late already.

1770 even its name suggests a trip back in time, in this case to a place of our youths (except of course for any kids reading this).  A place of just beach and that is enough.  The beach here is exactly the one you have in your mind when I say Queensland beach and even better our caravan park is right on it.  As I write this I am no more than 20 metres from the sand, the sun is shining on the water, a few boats are heading out to fish, the sky is already a beautiful blue.  Yep, looking forward to another day in this little paradise.

We spent 3 nights here and the caravan park was chock full.  Turns out that Bundaberg has a public holiday on Thursday for their show and many people decided to turn it into a long weekend and apparently quite a few like to come here.  This actually turned out to be perfect.  They boys have been craving some kid time for a while – we hadn’t seen any other kids since Tweed Heads – unfortunately for them all we had found was grey nomads so they have had to make do with the parents all the time.  A lovely family camped next door to us and importantly they had a boy very close to our boys age and a girl a bit younger.  For the next two days there was tree climbing, tag on the beach, sand castles, playground visits, swimming, water Frisbee, sunset watching and marshmallow toasting (the family next door did a very cool camp fire).

We also added in a couple of drives to explore more of the local beaches, of which there are many and they are all stunning.  We also went to Eurimbula National Park and had a great 4 wheel drive with a super lookout, just the name Ganoonga Noonga is cool, and culminated at this beach.

Leaving 1770 was hard, we could easily have stayed longer, especially next to such a lovely family.  But they were returning home and for us we were thinking it was time to go inland again.  I leave you with pictures that reveal why this place is so special, you see it is one of those rare beaches on this side of Australia that looks west.
